Total Meltdown – that’s the only term I have to describe my feelings when I was running dangerously low on my Favorite Foundation [Indepth review and swatches here] and it wasn’t to be found anywhere. We knew Masarrat Misbah Makeup was working hard to develop and retail a new formula, but when? What if I run out before it relaunches, What would I doooooo?
Thank Gawwdddd it launched before I ran out of it and had to show my makeup-free face to anyone; That ain’t happening unless you are the man I married * *
The second phase of apprehensions began when I heard the formula and the shades were different and trust me, these concerns were giving palpitations to all MM Foundation users.
When I finally got my hands on the new version, the first difference I noticed was the size and the shape of the bottles.
The new bottle is visibly taller and slightly slimmer but the amount of product in it is the same as before.
The pumps are different as well. The new one is stubbier and stiffer while the previous one is smoother to look and to pump both. Right off the bat, the shade in the old bottle looks pinker as compared to the new one which looks lighter and yellow-er, but more on that later.
Ignore the stained pump of the old bottle, I just couldn’t get the product off but have blurred it out to not cause an eyesore. No judging ok!
First Impression of the Formula:
Right Swatch – New (Mocha)
Left Swatch – Old (Mocha)
The new formula is thinner in viscosity than its older counterpart. That paired with the stiffer pump causes more product to come out then a single pump from the old bottle would give.
The color of the new one is also lighter *Heart Attack…but wait*
The new formula is definitely thinner and slightly more oilier in terms of its spreadability and coverage. That means its now also great for people with dry skin who initially could not use the foundation properly due to its super matte and quick drying nature.
The new formula now takes a minute to dry, is just a tad less matte than before but has the same superior blend-ability and coverage. The formula wont feel too different to people with oily skin who loved it because of the mattifying properties but for people with dry skin, a whole new world has now opened up.
As for the shade, yes the new formula is slightly lighter however for my NC 34-40 skin tone, it suited perfectly since the previous one was just a little dark. Also more great news, the new formula doesn’t oxidize on me either so Yay!
I am super glad to report that MM Silk Foundation has retained its status as my go-to product!
